Beauty Tips For The Girl On A Budget

Beauty treatments can be quite expensive, so here are some at home beauty tips, to make you feel lovely and save you money!

DIY Nails

Getting your nails done every few weeks is such a treat, and it’s so nice to have someone do them for you, but it can be expensive. So I have found investing in gel nail products is a great way to get the nail salon look for less.

Starting with three essentials, first being:

  • A LED gel curing lamp

I have an Opallac curing lamp which cures gel polish safely in 90 seconds. It can be used on LED and UV gel polishes. You can get these lamps pretty much everywhere that suits any budget, but make sure you do your research first!

  • Gel base and top coat

You can get any type of gel top and base coat from Amazon or Ebay, I have both from Opallac. If you’re wanting to buy from elsewhere just make sure they are a reputable brand. I’ve used a few brands and they work really well.

  • Gel colours

You can purchase hundreds of gel colours. There are so many types of colours out there to suit anyones style, there’s glitter gels, matte gels, shimmery gels etc.

All you need to do is file and shape your nails, roughen/buff up your nails lightly with a nail file, apply the base coat and cure, apply a few coats of your choice of colour, curing in-between coats, and applying the final top coat and cure. And there you go! The more you do this the more you’ll get your moneys worth.

Hair Mask

I love a good hair mask, but they can be pricey and have all sorts of ingredients that are questionable. I have used coconut oil for years on my hair and scalp.

When my hair starts feeling a bit dry and dull, I grab a jar of coconut oil rub it in my hands so it melts and apply liberally throughout your hair. Making sure you’re getting your ends and thoroughly massaging it through your scalp.

Depending on my day, I do it in the morning if I’ve got a day at home and have it on all day. Or I place a towel on my pillow and leave it in over night. This technique is so affordable and the results are amazing. My hair feels softer and so nourished. When washing it out, the most effective way I find it to shampoo twice.

Foot Soak

A great way to achieve lovely soft feet is my DIY foot soak. You can do this by filling up a bucket of warm water, add a few drops of an essential oil of your choice. I like lavender – it’s very relaxing. Soak for your feet in there for 5-10 minutes.

Grab a pumice stone and scrub your heels and balls of your feet. The skin comes off easily and it leaves your foot super soft. You might find there may be some rough spots on your feet after they dry, but apply a thick moisturiser on your feet, put socks on and go to sleep. In the morning, they’ll feel super clean and soft!

Body Exfoliant

Exfoliating the skin on your body not only makes your skin feel soft and smooth. It also has many benefits, such as removing dead skin cells, helps with circulation and creates a gorgeous glow to your skin. I love doing a full body exfoliate about once a week. I have a great DIY natural recipe to help exfoliate and moisturise at the same time.

You’ll need:

  • Coconut oil
  • Pink Himalayan rock salt
  • Essential oils (optional)
  • Honey (optional)

Mix these ingredients together you achieve your desired consistency. Making sure you have plenty of pink Himalayan rock salt as that is the main exfoliating ingredient, and there you go, a lovely natural and effective body exfoliant!

I hope these tips help you save on your beauty treatments and make you feel beautiful!
